The “Al Moutmir Itinerant” program made a stop on Tuesday in the rural commune of Chtouka in El Jadida, as part of a national tour aimed at providing technical assistance to farmers.

Launched at the initiative of the OCP group, this program, scheduled for three days, seeks to raise awareness among farmers with small and medium-sized farms about environmentally friendly best practices.

It is part of the Al Moutmir program, which aims to encourage farmers to promote sustainable and innovative agriculture, adopt direct seeding techniques, and connect them with producers and distributors of fertilizers.

In a statement to MAP, El Ahmed Moutaki, agronomist and national coordinator of the Al Moutmir program, indicated that this ninth stage of the program targets no less than 450 farmers based in the Casablanca-Settat region and in Safi, adding that the goal is to inform them about best practices in agriculture, including soil analysis, fertilizer application methods, and sustainable irrigation water management.

He reported that an exhibition was organized on this occasion with stands dedicated to fertilizers and their producers and distributors, as well as sustainable agricultural mechanization, in the presence of experts and agricultural technicians who respond in detail and in accessible language to all requests for explanations and questions posed by farmers.

Additionally, workshops were held on topics such as soil characteristics, reasonable management of irrigation water, conservation agriculture, diversification of cropping systems, and the rationalization of ruminant feeding.

For his part, Miloud Lakhdar, an agricultural communication expert, emphasized the importance of the “Al Moutmir” program in promoting sustainable agriculture through effective support for farmers facing the challenges and problems they encounter in their daily work.

Initiated in partnership with the School of Agricultural Sciences, Fertilization, and Environment (ESAFE) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguerir, the “Al Moutmir Itinerant” program aims to promote more efficient, sustainable, and inclusive agriculture.
