Morocco injects nearly one billion dirhams into an ambitious industrial transformation program. Through FONZID II (Fund for Sustainable Industrial Zones), eight industrial zone projects will be created or modernized in key regions of the country. The goal: to create competitive, integrated, and environmentally friendly industrial ecosystems.
This initiative, led by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and supported by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), marks a turning point: gone are the simple implantation zones. Now, there will be industrial environments designed to promote innovation, employment, sustainability, and the attractiveness of territories.
Greener and more efficient industrial ecosystems
These new zones are based on an integrated vision: modern infrastructure, energy performance, waste management, employee well-being, and encouragement of innovation. Sites like Oued Zem, Khouribga, Aït Melloul, and Mohammedia are already benefiting from concrete projects aligned with this logic.
At the heart of the program is the upgrading of industrial zones to meet environmental requirements while supporting the competitiveness of Moroccan companies. Digital technology, process optimization, and logistical integration are thus becoming major transformation levers.
A new governance model to sustain results
But beyond infrastructure, it is management that makes the difference. For these zones to become true economic engines, they must benefit from solid governance, support tailored to the needs of businesses, and dynamic territorial animation.
According to Anouar El Basrhiri, CEO of TMS Consulting, these zones must become real industrial hubs, capable of integrating companies into regional and global value chains. The ministry echoes this sentiment, focusing on the creation of sustainable jobs and the overall improvement of productivity.
FONZID II thus represents much more than a simple development program: it is a key component of Morocco’s strategy for a resilient, green, and future-oriented industry.
