In just over two years of operation, the Dar Bouazza factory has established itself as a cornerstone of the circular economy in Morocco. Its subsidiary Dolicen, dedicated to PET recycling, has surpassed the symbolic milestone of one billion bottles collected and transformed since its launch in June 2023.
This milestone illustrates both the industrial advancement of the site and the gradual structuring of a national recycling sector. Every month, more than 1,000 tons of PET are processed thanks to the factory’s two production lines (flakes and fibers), amounting to over 600 million bottles treated annually. The operation directly employs about a hundred people and supports a network of 10,000 collectors across the country.
Beyond the impressive figures, the economic and environmental impact is substantial: reduction of virgin PET imports, foreign currency savings for Morocco, creation of social value, and integration of plastic waste into the national and international production supply chain. For the Dolidol group, this dynamic even enables it to meet 100% of its internal polyester needs.
“With Dolicen, we demonstrate that it is possible to reconcile industrial competitiveness, environmental responsibility, and job creation,” emphasizes the group’s management. The factory, built with an investment of 200 million dirhams, half of which was provided by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Project Bank, showcases Morocco’s ability to develop robust and sustainable local sectors.
By crossing the threshold of one billion recycled bottles, Dolicen confirms that the circular economy is no longer just a slogan, but a progressing industrial reality.
