The city of Dakhla has been hosting the Forum on Sustainable Economic Development since Tuesday, organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI) in partnership with the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Regional Council. Over two days, researchers, experts, public officials, and economic actors are examining ways to support the region’s transformation and enhance its attractiveness.
The event aims to foster dialogue around strategic coordination mechanisms, economic innovation, and good governance. Discussions particularly focus on the alignment between education and labor market needs, encouraging investment, and establishing public-private partnerships that drive growth.
Randy Schuenemann, Vice President of the IRI Board of Directors, praised the development vision promoted by the region, which leverages strategic sectors to generate sustainable opportunities for local populations. Moulay Boutal Lembarki, Vice President of the Regional Council, shares this perspective, viewing the forum as a space for exchanging experiences and reflecting on best practices in territorial management.
This meeting also serves as a platform to present to international partners, notably the American delegation present, the economic strengths and investment opportunities that Dakhla offers. The stated goal is to consolidate the momentum of integrated and sustainable development that places the region at the heart of national and international economic dynamics.
