The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) and the Secretary of State for Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy signed a framework agreement and a specific agreement on energy efficiency in the crafts sector on Tuesday in Rabat.

These two agreements were sealed during a ceremony presided over by the Secretary of State for Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Lahcen Essaadi, and the Director General of AMEE, Mohamed Benyahia, as indicated by the signatories in a joint statement.

The framework agreement aims to implement energy-saving projects within a comprehensive approach integrating energy efficiency, resource optimization, and decarbonization, particularly targeting the reduction of firewood and gas consumption in craft activities, the same source specifies.

In detail, the defined partnership axes focus on supporting artisans to optimize their energy consumption, as well as promoting efficient gas ovens, high-performance wood ovens, and improved boilers, particularly for traditional hammams.

The agreement also provides for the deployment of energy-efficient heating and cooking systems using wood in rural and mountainous areas, accompanied by training and awareness programs on energy efficiency aimed at artisans.

Improving the energy performance of infrastructures under the Department of Crafts and Social and Solidarity Economy is also among the objectives, as well as developing a prototype for eco-energy rural construction and creating energy labels for crafts.

The specific agreement, on the other hand, focuses on designing two prototypes of gas ovens intended for potter-ceramic artisans and bakers.

It includes support and training for artisans in the design of these gas ovens, as well as the development of a national label for this type of equipment.

This pioneering agreement will allow artisans to benefit from training and support specifically dedicated to energy savings, particularly for the most energy-intensive activities in the Moroccan crafts sector, concludes the statement.
