The first edition of the Green Impact Expo & Summit (GIES 2025), which brought together public and private stakeholders to celebrate innovative and competitive expertise and solutions in sustainable mobility, concluded its work on Thursday evening in Casablanca.

“The first edition of GIES 2025 was organized with the aim of bringing together actors from various sectors related to sustainable mobility,” said Si Mohamed Hifdi, president of GIES 2025, in a statement to MAP, noting that this initiative aims to break down silos between sectors and adopt a systemic approach integrating energy, industry, commerce, and digital transition to accelerate decarbonization in accordance with Morocco’s commitments.

According to Mr. Hifdi, this event facilitated dialogue among various stakeholders, including the public sector, private sector, local authorities, and civil society, indicating that mobility is a fundamental need for citizens, just like employment, health, and education, as defined in the New Development Model.

The discussions focused on the main levers for accelerating the sustainable transition, particularly technical, regulatory, fiscal, and financial aspects. Mr. Hifdi highlighted the impact of the carbon border adjustment mechanism, scheduled for 2026, on the Moroccan exporting industry, emphasizing the expectations and concerns of economic operators regarding this new regulation.

He also mentioned international feedback on logistics and flow management during major events. In this regard, he stressed the importance of ensuring comprehensive planning for the transport aspect in anticipation of organizing the CAN 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.

The president of GIES 2025 praised the participation of institutional, academic, and economic partners who contributed to the success of this edition, calling for the continuation of this momentum and strengthening this platform as a collaborative space for reflection and scientific monitoring to support the transition to sustainable mobility.

The closing ceremony was marked by the awarding of trophies for the Green Impact Expo & Summit Challenge, initiated in collaboration with StartGate, the startup campus of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University. This project aimed at Moroccan and African entrepreneurs and startups offers a platform to present concrete and innovative solutions to the challenge of sustainable mobility.

This challenge allowed for the identification of startups proposing innovative solutions to current environmental and societal issues. Thus, the 5 grand winners of the competition are the startups “Weego,” “Pogo,” “Findcharge,” “Lowgistic,” and “Simpower.”

Organized by the Federation of Transport and Logistics (FTL-CGEM), this event, which hosted France as the guest of honor, was held under the auspices of the ministries of Industry and Commerce, Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Transport and Logistics, as well as Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
