The Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry (FCP) is organizing a conference on November 27 in Casablanca under the theme “Circular Economy and Water Efficiency: Challenges and Opportunities for a Sustainable Chemical Industry.”

Organized alongside its ordinary general assembly, in partnership with ICCA (International Council of Chemical Associations), this meeting will see the participation of experts and renowned personalities, including the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, the President of CGEM, and the President of ICCA, as indicated by the FCP in a statement.

This meeting will provide an opportunity to present the significant project of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development for promoting the circular economy in industrial sectors and to present the support program aimed at various stakeholders, the statement notes.

Panels led by national and international experts are scheduled to discuss the importance of daily management of this resource and the need to develop a strategy for responsible management of both waste and water in industrial facilities in general and in the chemical industry in particular.

At a time when environmental challenges and natural resources are increasingly threatened, the circular economy emerges as a promising model for rethinking our relationship with resources.

This concept, based on reduction, reuse, and recycling, is part of an approach aimed at minimizing waste and maximizing the use of available resources, the statement emphasizes.

Among these resources, water, essential for life and human activity, proves to be a crucial issue. Water efficiency, which refers to the optimal use of water to meet economic and environmental needs, thus becomes a fundamental pillar of the circular economy.

By integrating sustainable practices into water management, we can not only preserve this vital resource but also promote responsible and sustainable economic growth. This synergy between the circular economy and water efficiency thus offers innovative prospects for a more resilient and sustainable future for the national chemical industry.

In the face of the scarcity of its water resources, Morocco is initiating the process of its national water management strategy. The roadmap, which runs until 2050, encompasses all actions and projects aimed at enabling the Kingdom to manage, plan, and rationalize water use across various sectors of the economy.

This event will bring together nearly 150 leaders and will provide an opportunity for representatives of the national chemical industry and institutions specialized in the environment, circular economy, and water management to share their successful experiences in implementing effective strategies.

Testimonials will contribute to raising awareness among stakeholders in the national chemical industry to engage more in responsible resource management.

This rich morning will conclude with a question-and-answer session. Then, the FCP will begin its Mixed General Assembly (AGE & AGO) with the usual items: Amendment of statutes, Moral report, Financial report, Auditor’s report.

The Federation of Chemistry and Parachemistry is one of the most active federations in Morocco. Its members have come together since 1993 to form a professional association with legal personality and financial autonomy.

It includes among its members companies from the chemical sector, whether private or public, Moroccan or subsidiaries of foreign groups, established in Morocco. In addition to these member companies, the FCP also brings together six professional associations representing several sectors.

It is also worth noting that the chemical and parachemical industries sector in Morocco comprises 1,600 companies that generated a turnover of 180 billion dirhams in 2022 (25% of Moroccan industrial production) and employs more than 8,000 people.

The sector has invested more than 11 billion dirhams and exported over 120 billion in 2022. The activity of the sector, which is predominantly made up of SMEs, focuses on 10 highly diversified sectors of specialty chemicals (paints, detergents, phytosanitary products, cosmetics, gases, glass, fertilizers, etc.) and is therefore strongly linked, upstream or downstream, to other industrial and economic activities in Morocco.
