A new generation amusement park was inaugurated on Sunday in the Sbata district of Casablanca.
Costing nearly 15 million dirhams and covering approximately 2.5 hectares, this new ecological space aims to contribute to the preservation of the city’s green ecosystems while providing residents with an environmentally friendly place to relax.
The inauguration ceremony of this park was presided over by the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, governor of the Casablanca prefecture, Mohamed Mhidia, in the presence of the governor of the Ben M’sik district, Mohamed Nouchti, the president of the Casablanca-Settat regional council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, the president of the Casablanca municipal council, Nabila Rmili, the president of the Sbata district, Taoufik Kamil, as well as elected officials and civil society actors.
Implemented by the Casablanca Municipality and developed by the local development company “Casablanca Baia,” this recreational space includes a diverse plant cover that helps preserve ecological balance and absorb polluting gases, with over 320 trees and 22 different species.
“This amusement park is part of the program for the development and diversification of green spaces in the city of Casablanca,” said Ms. Rmili in a statement to MAP, noting that “The goal is to fill the gap in terms of green spaces for relaxation and activities in the Sbata district and to offer residents a recreational, educational, sports, and activity green space.”
“This space adds to the recently inaugurated parks, namely ‘Bechar El Kheir’ in Hay Mohammadi and ‘Al Hadaba Al Khadraa’ in Sidi Moumen, thus responding to our ambition to create a park in every neighborhood, with the aim of increasing the total area of green spaces in the economic capital in the coming years,” she emphasized.
“With a diverse plant cover of 9,000 square meters, this park has been designed in an integrated manner and includes several recreational facilities, namely a fitness area, a musical fountain, a reading area, children’s playgrounds, a chess playing area, an open-air theater, sanitary facilities, a café, kiosks, and a walking path,” said the Head of the Green Spaces Operations Service at Casablanca Baia, Ennaji Mouhcine.
He added: “This park enriches the list of recreational green spaces established through an integrated development approach, meeting the expectations of the various components of this region and highlighting the talents and skills of young people.”
It should be noted that the irrigation system of the park has been designed to contribute to the sustainability of the space. It includes several features aimed at reducing water consumption while preserving the plants that have been selected according to scientific criteria.
