Two other groups were in the running for this contract:

- Suez (France) – Somagec (Morocco)
A structuring project after many obstacles
The project has long been delayed due to the difficulty of finding a suitable site. This issue has been resolved with the availability of a 260-hectare plot in the municipality of Majjatia Ouled Taleb, located in the province of Médiouna.
The total budget of 3.1 billion dirhams includes the cost of the land. The financing will primarily be provided by:
- The General Directorate of Local Authorities of the Ministry of the Interior: 1.9 billion dirhams over 10 years
- The Casablanca-Settat region: 272 million dirhams over 5 years
- The municipality of Casablanca will cover the remaining balance
This project aims to modernize waste management in the metropolis, providing a sustainable solution to replace the current landfill in Médiouna.
