In a context of increasing pressure on companies for greater climate transparency, the Moroccan Institute for Standardization (Imanor) has taken a new step by launching a national mechanism dedicated to the verification of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reports.

This new mechanism aims to provide economic actors with a rigorous framework to attest to the reliability of their environmental declarations. It is part of the provisions of Law No. 12-06 on standardization, certification, and accreditation, and is aimed at both local companies and groups operating in international value chains.

Towards credible and recognized carbon traceability

With the rise of sustainability obligations, Moroccan companies are increasingly being asked to justify their carbon footprint. Imanor’s mechanism addresses this traceability requirement, particularly for those engaged in corporate social responsibility initiatives or subject to the climate requirements of their international partners.

Specifically, each verification mission results in a detailed opinion issued by Imanor, accompanied by a comprehensive report. This report assesses the quality of the submitted data, the relevance of the quantification methods used, and the compliance of the reports with current standards.

    Expertise aligned with international standards

The verifications are conducted by certified experts, in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14064, thereby ensuring the international recognition of the results. The objective is twofold: to enhance the credibility of Moroccan carbon reports and to assist companies in the continuous improvement of their practices.

In addition to technical validation, Imanor provides targeted recommendations to better identify emission sources and refine the reduction actions to be implemented.

    Support open to all entities

Companies, administrations, or environmental organizations can request this service. The declaration modalities and the steps of the process are accessible upon simple request to Imanor, which now positions itself as a key player in environmental regulation in Morocco.
