Rabat, December 9, 2024 – As part of its eco-mobility strategy, Barid Al-Maghrib reaffirms its commitment to environmentally friendly postal operations by integrating a fleet of electric scooters. This initiative is part of the group’s ongoing efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable modernization of the Moroccan postal sector.

    Progressive Deployment of Electric Scooters

According to an official statement, Barid Al-Maghrib has deployed an initial batch of 190 electric scooters intended for the distribution of mail and parcels in seven major cities of the Kingdom: Laâyoune, Agadir, Marrakech, Fès, Casablanca, Tangier, and Rabat. A second batch of 250 additional units is planned by the end of December 2024, bringing the total to over 650 electric scooters by 2025.

    Environmental and Operational Benefits

These scooters, offering a range of 80 to 100 km, perfectly meet the technical requirements for daily distribution. They represent a significant advancement towards a more ecological management of last-mile deliveries. By replacing traditional vehicles with electric models, Barid Al-Maghrib aims to significantly reduce its carbon footprint while improving the efficiency of its operations.

    Pioneer of Green Distribution

This initiative is a continuation of actions already undertaken by Barid Al-Maghrib, notably the integration of 225 electric vehicles into its fleet since 2022. By adopting these innovative solutions, the group reaffirms its role as a pioneer in green distribution and actively contributes to sustainable development in Morocco.

    Socio-Economic and Environmental Impact

The deployment of these electric scooters will have a positive impact on local communities by reducing air pollution and improving the quality of life in the affected cities. Furthermore, this transition to cleaner transportation promotes the creation of green jobs and stimulates technological innovation within the postal sector.

    Future Prospects

Barid Al-Maghrib plans to further expand its electric fleet and integrate other sustainable technologies into its operations. The goal is to continue reducing greenhouse gas emissions while ensuring fast and efficient delivery of postal services across Morocco.
