As geopolitical, climatic, and economic tensions reshape the map of global food security, a joint report from the OECD and FAO urges Southern countries, including Morocco, to urgently strengthen their agricultural sovereignty. Titled Agricultural Outlook 2025-2034, this strategic report highlights the increasing fragility of importing countries in the face of a decade of significant uncertainties. A risky structural dependence Morocco remains largely dependent on external markets to meet its basic needs for cereals, vegetable oils, and animal proteins. This vulnerability exposes the country to the volatility of global prices, exacerbated by climatic hazards, energy tensions, and geopolitical conflicts. While a…
Morocco is accelerating its industrial transition by leveraging a strategic advantage: making industrial zones not only economic engines but also models of sustainability. During the first panel of the Industry Meeting Days 2025, planners, industrialists, investors, and public representatives discussed a shared ambition: transforming activity zones into responsible and competitive ecosystems. From Awareness to Collective Structuring In his opening remarks, Mounir Benyahya, president of the Collective of Industrial Zones for the Environment (COZINE), emphasized that this initiative stems from a clear observation: the proliferation of industrial zones in Morocco has not always been accompanied by effective governance or an ecological…
Morocco is positioning itself further as a regional hub for electric mobility thanks to a new agreement signed between the American manufacturer Cenntro and the Moroccan company Electricove. The latter, specialized in the distribution of electric vehicles and based in Casablanca, will now locally assemble several models from the American brand, intended for the Moroccan market and North Africa. For its part, Electricove commits to installing an assembly unit on Moroccan soil and managing operational production. This industrial…
An international scientific study, published in the *International Journal of Hydrogen Energy*, opens a new pathway for energy development in Morocco. For the first time, it comprehensively models the capacity for green hydrogen production via offshore wind along the Moroccan coasts, combining historical data, physical modeling, and climate projections. This research thus lays the groundwork for an ambitious energy strategy tailored to the realities on the ground. The study relies in particular on ERA5 data provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), covering the period from 1981 to 2020 and measured at an altitude of 100 meters.…

With less than five years until the deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN presents a worrying assessment: the planet is significantly behind. The annual report on the progress of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, recently published in New York, reveals that only 35% of the SDGs are on track or progressing at a moderate pace. Nearly half are progressing too slowly, while 18% are experiencing setbacks. Facing multiple challenges – poverty, hunger, climate change, inequalities, armed conflicts, and geopolitical crises – the ambitious program adopted in 2015 now seems hindered by a weakened global dynamic. Poverty,…
