The ASMEX (Moroccan Confederation of Exporters) continues its efforts for a decarbonized transition of the Moroccan industry, with a view to ensuring a sustainable economy while preparing for future European regulations. In this context, a decarbonization awareness caravan recently stopped in Agadir, highlighting the importance of local action.
With the European Union, Morocco’s main trading partner, imposing strict carbon emission standards starting in 2026, it is crucial for Moroccan companies to begin adapting their processes. This will allow them to maintain access to European markets while participating in the sustainable modernization of the national industry.
This caravan, organized in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Souss-Massa Region (CCISSM) and the Regional Investment Center, brought together exporters, experts, and various stakeholders. Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi, President of ASMEX, along with other officials, emphasized the importance of proactively preparing for this energy transition.
Loic Jaegert-Huber, President of the “Clean Energies” Commission of ASMEX, confirmed the Confederation’s commitment to supporting its members in anticipating these new requirements, thus ensuring that companies remain competitive on the international stage.
During this caravan, experts from companies such as ENGIE and BUREAU VERITAS presented concrete solutions, such as conducting carbon assessments, adopting more efficient energy technologies, and appropriate financing models for this transition. These initiatives aim not only for compliance with regulations but also to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Moroccan companies.
ASMEX and CCISSM intend to continue their awareness efforts through new regional initiatives, aiming for a sustainable and proactive transition aligned with future international standards.
