Atlantic Microfinance for Africa (AMIFA), a subsidiary of Groupe BCP dedicated to microfinance in Africa, has been recognized at the 7th edition of the Financial Afrik Awards, held on January 22-23, 2026, in Banjul (Gambia). The institution received the award in the category of “Champion of African Financial Inclusion,” acknowledging its role in expanding access to financing across the continent.
The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of Gambia, giving the event an institutional and pan-African significance.
A Recognition that Celebrates the Impact of Microfinance on the Ground
Established in 2018, the Financial Afrik Awards have become a major event in the African economic and financial landscape. Each year, they highlight institutions and initiatives that contribute significantly to the continent’s economic transformation.
For AMIFA, this award recognizes its ongoing commitment to financial inclusion for Very Small and Medium Enterprises (VSMEs) and low-income populations, in line with the strategy of Groupe BCP. The goal is to bridge the funding gap that still hinders the development of many local economies.
AMIFA Strengthens Its Pan-African Presence
Beyond the recognition, AMIFA also confirms a dynamic expansion in several strategic areas, notably:
- the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA),
- those of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC),
- as well as the Indian Ocean region.
This growth reflects the group’s ambition to establish itself as a leading pan-African player in microfinance.
A Recognition Dedicated to Teams and Clients
Reacting to this recognition, Mouhssine Cherkaoui, General Director of AMIFA Holding, emphasized that this award confirms the relevance of the financial inclusion strategy implemented by Groupe BCP through AMIFA, while highlighting the tangible impact on access to financing.
He also dedicated this award to clients, partners, and the 1,100 employees of the group, who are committed daily to values of proximity, citizenship, innovation, and performance.
A Strong Signal for Inclusive Finance in Africa
With this award, AMIFA solidifies its position as a key player in African microfinance and reaffirms its ambition: to contribute to a more inclusive and responsible growth, capable of creating sustainable value for local economies.
