The Emirati company **AMEA Power**, a subsidiary of the **Al Nowais Investments** group, is strengthening its presence in Morocco by announcing major investments in seawater desalination and green hydrogen production. These innovative projects will complement the company’s ongoing initiatives in the renewable energy sector, said its president, **Hussain Al Nowais**, in an interview with Asharq.

    #### A major player in renewable energies

Already well established in Morocco, AMEA Power currently manages four clean energy projects totaling a capacity of over **200 megawatts**. Internationally, the company is active in about twenty countries in Africa and Central Asia, with a total production capacity reaching approximately **6,000 megawatts**.

    #### An ambitious strategy: desalination and green hydrogen

Among its future projects, AMEA Power plans to invest **100 million dollars** in a seawater desalination project. This initiative will be carried out in partnership with the Spanish company **Cox**, specialized in energy and water solutions, in which AMEA Power recently acquired a strategic stake.

In parallel, the company plans to develop a green hydrogen production unit in southern Morocco, with an estimated capacity of **1 gigawatt**, thus affirming its ambition to contribute to the Kingdom’s energy transition.

    #### A local presence to support Moroccan ambitions

AMEA Power has reinforced its commitment to the Moroccan market by opening an office in Rabat in 2023. This office is actively exploring new investment opportunities and establishing partnerships with private companies seeking to integrate clean energy solutions.

According to the company, promising sites have already been identified in regions such as **El Hajeb** and **Taroudant**. AMEA Power welcomes Morocco’s proactive policies regarding the development of renewable energies, seawater desalination, and green hydrogen production, which position the country as a strategic hub for these sectors.

With these initiatives, AMEA Power confirms its role as a key player in the Moroccan energy landscape and its commitment to supporting the Kingdom in its environmental and economic ambitions.
