    ### A Measure for More Responsible Consumption

From **March 12, 2025**, air conditioners and refrigerators sold in Morocco will be required to display an **energy label**. This regulation aims to inform consumers about the energy performance of appliances and encourage the purchase of less energy-consuming equipment. It is part of the national energy efficiency and green transition strategy, as the building sector accounts for nearly **33% of the country’s total energy consumption**.

    ### A Regulation to Reduce Consumption and Emissions

This obligation arises from the **decrees published in the Official Bulletin No. 7334 on September 12, 2024**, which impose **minimum energy performance thresholds** for these appliances. In addition to labeling, the regulation introduces performance requirements that will be implemented gradually:

    – **Refrigerators**: application of standards in **two phases (1 year and 3 years after publication)**.
    – **Air conditioners**: compliance within **12 months and 4 years** depending on the type of device.

The main objective is to **reduce the carbon footprint** and limit **electricity capacity needs**, especially during peak consumption times.

    ### A Strategic Issue for Energy Independence

With the rise in living standards and the increasing number of household appliances, electricity demand is significantly increasing. However, Morocco remains a **major energy importer**, making energy efficiency essential to reduce its dependence and costs.

At the same time, a **complementary decree (No. 1530.24)** imposes **new standards for electric motors**, aimed at limiting their energy consumption and reducing **greenhouse gas emissions**. This measure will come into effect on **September 12, 2025**.

    ### Towards More Sustainable Development

The implementation of these regulations marks a new step in Morocco’s energy policy. By encouraging the adoption of more efficient equipment, they allow for **reducing consumption, controlling costs, and limiting environmental impact**. A further step towards a **more sustainable and responsible energy model**.
