The Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, assured on Thursday in Rabat that his department has taken a series of measures to support and assist farmers.

During a presentation before the Government Council on the “situation and progress of the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign,” the minister specified that this support particularly involves the provision and subsidy of selected autumn cereal seeds amounting to approximately 1.3 million quintals, as well as the supply and support of nitrogen fertilizers of nearly 200,000 tons.

Speaking at a press briefing following the Council, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson Mustapha Baitas, indicated that Mr. El Bouari also emphasized that the ongoing agricultural campaign has been marked by low rainfall compared to the national average of the last 30 years.

The minister also announced that a program has been developed to support the animal production sector, including animal feed, through the provision of subsidized fodder for breeders, technical guidance to improve the productivity of sheep and goats in the medium term, as well as animal health and solidarity agriculture focused on livestock, while supporting the conservation of breeding females to rebuild the herd.
