The Hajar Association invites the public on February 5 in Casablanca for an evening dedicated to solidarity and inclusion. The event has a dual purpose: to raise awareness about Primary Immunodeficiencies (PID), diseases that are still little known, and to mobilize funds to support affected children and their families.
The event will take the form of a solidarity Chaâbana, held at the Anfa Cultural Complex, featuring a musical and spiritual program led by the Hadra Chefchaounia of Delal El Bernoussi, as well as performances by Aïssawa and other announced activities.
A Festive Evening for a Serious Medical Cause
For the Hajar Association, this initiative aims to create a direct link between the general public and a medical reality that is often invisible. “With this solidarity evening, we wish to strengthen the connection between the public and our cause (…) in favor of children with primary immunodeficiencies,” explains its president, Bouchra Benhayoun, emphasizing the desire to “combine the useful with the pleasant” through a festive moment supporting an urgent cause.
The association’s patron, artist Samia Akarriou, also calls for mobilization. She invites the public to attend and support the affected children while participating in “an unforgettable spiritual musical evening.” She also thanked the partners who contributed to organizing the event, including Delal El Bernoussi and his troupe, Ticket.ma, and the Anfa Cultural Complex.
Primary Immunodeficiencies: Rare, Costly, and Sometimes Deadly Diseases
Primary Immunodeficiencies encompass over 500 genetic disorders. They severely weaken the immune system and expose patients to severe or recurrent infections. When the diagnosis is delayed, or when treatment is interrupted, these diseases can lead to serious complications or even early death, affecting both children and adults.
Care primarily involves the administration of immunoglobulins (Ig), a treatment derived from human blood, which must be given once a month for life. Its cost is particularly high: around 3,000 dirhams per vial, with some patients needing 1 to 8 vials per month, making access to care difficult for many families.
In this context, the action of the Hajar Association is part of an ongoing effort to help patients access treatment, improve their quality of life, and support their inclusion in family, school, and social settings.
Ticketing: Tickets Available for 300 Dirhams
Tickets for the solidarity Chaâbana are priced at 300 dirhams and available on Tickets.ma. Each ticket purchased directly contributes to funding support actions for children with PID.
A Pioneering Association in Morocco
Founded in 2000, the Hajar Association emerged around the first case of a child diagnosed with PID in Morocco, which mobilized doctors, researchers, and volunteers. Since then, the association has become a reference point in supporting children with these disorders, in collaboration with the pediatrics department of the Casablanca Children’s Hospital.
The association highlights that in 2010, it contributed to the achievement of the first successful bone marrow transplant in Morocco for a child with PID. Guided by its values of solidarity, commitment, empathy, and dignity, Hajar provides medical, social, and psychological support to young patients and their families. It is also a member of the International Patient Organization for Primary Immunodeficiencies (IPOPI).
