The Blue Flag was raised on Thursday at Dalia beach, located in the province of Fahs-Anjra, for the tenth consecutive year, in recognition of the quality of the bathing waters, the cleanliness of the area, and compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Awarded annually by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the international “Blue Flag” label has been represented in Morocco since 2002 by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasnaa.
The flag-raising ceremony took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the province of Fahs-Anjra, the General Director of the Tanger Med Foundation, as well as representatives from local authorities, law enforcement, and elected officials.
Since obtaining its first Blue Flag in 2016, Dalia beach has established itself as a model of sustainable development, benefiting from the ongoing support of the Tanger Med Foundation as part of the national “Clean Beaches” program.
In a statement to MAP, Ihssane Elarabi Alaoui, communication officer at the Tanger Med Foundation, emphasized that the foundation provides structured support, combining funding, logistical assistance, and coordination with various stakeholders.
She specified that the foundation also mobilizes local associations and cooperatives through projects for animation, environmental awareness, and the enhancement of local resources, thus contributing to improving living conditions in the village of Dalia and creating economic opportunities through seasonal employment and the promotion of local products.
Among the new features for the 2025 summer season, Ms. Alaoui highlighted the installation of an interactive maritime museum near the sailing school, noting that this new educational space aims to raise public awareness about marine biodiversity, particularly focusing on endangered species.
The museum, she noted, also offers immersive content, educational workshops, and fun activities accessible to a wide audience.
In the same spirit, a free digital library has been opened, offering over 100,000 titles in Arabic, French, and English, to promote access to knowledge and culture, she added, indicating that new sports facilities have also been set up, with outdoor equipment aimed at encouraging an active lifestyle.
Ms. Alaoui also stressed the efforts made to enhance beach accessibility for people with disabilities, particularly through the establishment of reserved parking, access ramps, amphibious wheelchairs, adapted restrooms, and an on-site assistance system.
It is worth recalling that the “Blue Flag” label, created in 1987 by the FEE, is awarded based on four main criteria: the quality of bathing waters, environmental information and awareness, hygiene and safety, as well as sustainable development and management.
Certified beaches are subject to regular checks and unannounced inspections throughout the summer season to ensure strict compliance with these criteria.
