The government council adopted, on Thursday, June 26, the draft law n°56.24 aimed at transforming the National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) into a public limited company (SA). This structural reform is led by the Minister of Energy Transition, Leila Benali, and is part of the modernization of public institutions.

This transformation aligns with the framework law n°50.21 related to the reform of public enterprises and law n°82.20 establishing the National Agency for Strategic Management of State Holdings (ANGSPE). ONHYM is now among the entities within the intervention scope of this agency.

The stated objective is to strategically reposition ONHYM within the national economy, while enhancing its governance, performance, and financial attractiveness. This change in status aims to diversify funding, enhance assets, improve the return on invested capital, and stimulate wealth creation, in a logic of sustainable development and energy sovereignty.

An important step to make mineral and energy resources a true lever for growth.
