On Friday, June 20, the social enterprise Koun, supported by the Al Ikram Association – Valyans Foundation, organized a day dedicated to environmental and social impact, bringing together partners, collaborators, and beneficiaries around two key events: the closing of the Koun Citizen program and the launch of the annual meetings of the Koun Upcycling Club.

For a year, Koun Citizen has supported young people who have dropped out of school and single-parent women from disadvantaged neighborhoods, raising their awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals and training them in civic engagement. Twelve groups presented their projects during a Pitch Day in front of a multidisciplinary jury, which rewarded three local initiatives in Casablanca with seed funding and professional support.

In the evening, the Koun Upcycling Club launched its annual season, bringing together CSR experts such as Mehdi El Boury (Bosch Africa) and Saadia Slaoui (Valyans Consulting) to discuss best practices in circular economy. This network values the concrete actions of companies committed to sustainable waste management, selective sorting, and co-creation of circular products. The evening also unveiled the “Koun Impérial” collection, an eco-responsible line blending craftsmanship and innovation, offered to participants.

This day illustrates Morocco’s ability to combine social innovation and circular economy to sustainably transform territories and lives. Since 2013, the Valyans Foundation, through Al Ikram, has supported over 6,000 families per year, reduced waste by 120 tons, and launched several social enterprises, convinced that innovation should be measured by its concrete impact.
