The Government Council approved, on Thursday, June 12, the bill No. 20.25 aimed at ratifying the decree-law No. 2.25.302, promulgated on April 4, 2025 (5 Chaoual 1446), which modifies the provisions of law No. 52.20 establishing the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF).

Presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Ahmed El Bouari, this text aims to complete the legislative procedure provided for in Article 81 of the Constitution, according to the clarifications made by the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Mustapha Baitas, during the press briefing held after the Council.

This approach follows the adoption of the decree-law by the two competent parliamentary committees – those of the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors. The decree-law was published in the Official Bulletin No. 7393 dated April 7, 2025.

This new legislative framework aims to strengthen the structuring of the ANEF, a key player in the sustainable management of forest resources in Morocco, in a context marked by climate challenges and the need for more efficient governance of the national natural heritage.
