The **Ministry of Transport and Logistics** announced this Friday the postponement of the implementation of the **”Euro 6″** standard for certain types of vehicles for a period of 24 months.

    #### **Affected Categories**
According to the official statement, this postponement applies to vehicles in categories **M2, M3, N1, N2, and N3**, specifically for the approval and registration procedures. Light vehicles in category **M1** (passenger cars) remain excluded from this decision.

    #### **Regulatory Framework**
This decision comes after the publication of joint order No. 2094.24, signed by the Minister of Transport and Logistics and the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, dated **December 11, 2024**. This order modifies text No. 2835.10 of 2010, relating to the approval conditions for vehicles regarding pollutant emissions.
The new text was published in the **Official Bulletin No. 7361 of December 16, 2024**.

The objective of this postponement is to provide additional time for operators and manufacturers to adapt to the requirements of this standard while taking into account the specificities of the Moroccan automotive market.

    #### **What is the Euro 6 Standard?**
The **Euro 6** standard, adopted in Europe as early as 2014, imposes strict limits on pollutant emissions from thermal vehicles. These regulations aim to reduce the release of harmful substances, such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) and fine particles, with the goal of improving air quality and limiting the environmental impact of transport.

    #### **Morocco and the Euro 6 Standard**
Although located outside the European Union, Morocco is striving to harmonize its environmental standards with those of European countries. The gradual adoption of standards like **Euro 6** illustrates the Kingdom’s commitment to sustainability and the reduction of pollutant emissions in the transport sector.

This postponement reflects a pragmatic approach aimed at ensuring a smooth transition while allowing the local market to effectively respond to new environmental requirements.
