The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) organized, from October 20 to 24, 2024, the first edition of the Energy Week MSN, an innovative event dedicated to advancements in the field of sustainable energy. Organized by the Department of Materials Science, Energy, and Nano-engineering (MSN), this thematic week was held under the slogan “Innovating for a Sustainable Energy Future” and brought together researchers, industry professionals, and experts around cutting-edge energy technologies.
The discussions addressed essential topics such as lithium-ion batteries, redox flow batteries, phosphate materials for batteries, as well as the interactions between water and energy. The main objective was to promote collaboration between companies and research institutions to stimulate the development of new energy storage technologies and renewable energies, in a move towards a low-carbon economy.
World-renowned experts contributed to the discussions, including Dr. Jud Virden from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (United States), Dr. Martin Winter from the Münster Electrochemical Technology Institute (Germany), Dr. David Mitlin from the University of Texas (United States), Dr. Sun Shigang from Xiamen University (China), and Dr. Teo Rojo from the University of the Basque Country (Spain). Their contributions enriched the debates and inspired solutions for a sustainable energy future.
The event concluded with the MSN Industry Day on October 24, a special day dedicated to exchanges between researchers and industry professionals on the challenges of the energy transition. With this first edition of the Energy Week MSN, UM6P positions itself as a key player in energy research and a catalyst for partnerships towards a greener economy in Morocco.
