New advancement for Morocco’s energy transition: the YNNA group and Emirati developer AMEA Power have joined forces to build a 100-megawatt wind farm in Laâyoune. This project, crucial for the region, will supply all of the Moroccan group’s subsidiaries with green electricity while avoiding the emission of more than 330,000 tons of CO₂ per year.
The joint venture, equally owned by both partners, is part of the national strategy aimed at increasing the share of renewable energies to 52% of the energy mix by 2030. Beyond its environmental impact, the initiative aims to generate local benefits, particularly in terms of jobs and infrastructure.
“This project reflects our desire to anchor YNNA in a low-carbon model, resolutely focused on energy sovereignty,” said Mama Tajmouati, CEO of the YNNA group. His Emirati counterpart, Hussain Al Nowais, chairman of AMEA Power, emphasized Morocco’s strategic importance for its investments in Africa.
The construction of the wind farm is scheduled to start by the end of 2025, with an estimated operational start in 2027.
