Morocco views sustainable tourism as more than just a trend: it represents a genuine opportunity to build a more responsible and resilient economic model. This was affirmed by the Delegate Minister for Investment, Convergence, and Public Policy Evaluation, Karim Zidane, during the opening of an international conference on the subject in Ifrane on Wednesday.

The official recalled that, under the impetus of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Kingdom has strengthened its attractiveness over recent years, establishing itself as the leading tourist destination in Africa and one of the most significant globally.

    ### A Dynamic Driven by Several Advantages

This rise is based on several factors: the country’s stability, the diversity of its landscapes and experiences, improved air and land connectivity, as well as sustained promotion of the Morocco brand. The result is a continuous increase in tourist flows and a significant rebound in sector investments.

    ### A Vision Oriented Towards Sustainability

Karim Zidane also emphasized the role of the new Investment Charter, which came into effect in 2022, introducing criteria related to territorial equity, sustainability, and economic impact in the granting of public support. This reform positions tourism among the strategic sectors expected to play a central role in transforming the development model.

According to him, sustainable tourism can become one of the major levers for reconciling economic performance, social inclusion, and environmental preservation—three interrelated priorities of a resilient model.
