Over 1,700 exhibitors, including 18% from abroad, participated in the 28th edition of the green, blue, and circular economy fair “Ecomondo 2025,” organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) from November 4 to 7 at the Rimini Exhibition Centre in Italy.
“Participation from all sources increased by 7%, while foreign attendance rose by 10%,” stated an IEG communiqué, adding that “more than 600 accredited journalists, including 15% from abroad, placed the 28th edition of Ecomondo at the center of attention for the global community.”
For the organizers, the concrete results of this rapidly growing edition highlighted Ecomondo 2025’s position as an international hub for ecological transition, serving as a reference event in Europe and the Mediterranean region.
Reaffirming its role as a privileged exchange platform between businesses, the research community, and industry professionals worldwide, Ecomondo has established itself as a global crossroads, bringing together over 800 appointed buyers and international delegations from 65 countries.
Among the most represented markets, the IEG cites Spain, Turkey, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt, adding that the active participation of about 90 international associations resulted in 3,800 business matches, benefiting cooperation and sharing best practices in ecological transition.
During the four days of the fair, the same source continues, over 200 meetings were organized, including nearly 70 initiated by Ecomondo’s Technical and Scientific Committee, chaired by Fabio Fava.
These meetings offered a rich program of initiatives, providing an updated perspective on ecological transition across various sectors. Topics included critical raw materials, textiles, sustainable finance, water management and blue economy, bioenergies, circular economy, artificial intelligence (AI) applied to resource optimization and data monitoring, earth observation, and the role of communication in overcoming false dilemmas of ecological transition.
According to the IEG, significant attention was given to international cooperation and green transition in the Mediterranean, as well as initiatives to facilitate access to clean and sustainable energy across the African continent, within the framework of the Mattei Plan and the “Mission 300” Program, along with the fifth edition of the Africa Green Growth Forum.
As for the 14th edition of the General States of the Green Economy, the communiqué notes that it once again inaugurated Ecomondo, with the presentation of the 2025 Report on the state of the green economy, placing the status and prospects of the European green transition in the new global context at the center of the debate.
The return of the biennial Ecological Vehicle Fair “Sal.Ve,” in collaboration with the National Association of the Italian Automotive Industry Supply Chain (ANFIA), showcased a full range of equipment for industrial and special vehicles for solid and liquid waste collection, street sweeping, and drainage cleaning.
Additionally, the IEG noted that the “Innovation District” provided space and visibility for 40 high-tech Italian and international startups, including 20 based in Morocco and Tunisia, selected under the Lab Innova for Africa “Luca Attanasio” project, promoted by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Meanwhile, Ecomondo, whose next edition will take place from November 3 to 6, 2026, awarded the “Lorenzo Cagnoni” Prize for green innovation to seven exhibiting companies for their most advanced and promising technologies, according to the communiqué.
