The 4th edition of the “KEY – The Energy Transition Expo,” scheduled for March 4-6 at the Rimini exhibition center in Italy, will enhance the international dimension of this flagship event organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean region, focusing on energy transition and efficiency.
This new edition will also contribute to accelerating growth and affirming the fair’s status as a global energy hub by expanding further beyond the borders of the transalpine country and Europe. The goal is to promote dialogue among markets, institutions, and operators worldwide, while further speeding up the path to decarbonization goals, according to a statement from the organizers.
More than 1,000 exhibitors are expected at this edition, with around 32% coming from abroad (30 countries) and over 500 authorized buyers and delegations from about fifty countries, thanks to the support of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Trade Agency (ICE).
Among the focus markets for KEY 2026 are North and Sub-Saharan African countries, as well as Turkey and Europe, with particular attention to Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, Poland, Serbia, and, more generally, the Balkan region.
Additionally, for the first time, a Japanese delegation will be present in collaboration with H2IT and the Clust-ER Greentech of the Emilia-Romagna region as part of the hydrogen partnership between the two countries and following IEG’s mission to the Osaka Expo.
Furthermore, the Italian Exhibition Group notes that in line with the priorities of the Mattei Plan and the growing importance of the African continent for global energy transition and European energy and industrial policies, the expo aims to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Africa by connecting businesses, institutions, and investors to foster new synergies.
In this context, a new space dedicated to networking and business meetings will host several African associations from the sector.
Regarding the program for this edition, the organizers indicate that the Technical and Scientific Committee will propose around 18 sessions in English dedicated to international visitors and operators.
These events will cover the latest innovations, technologies, and projects using artificial intelligence to support the decarbonization of the built environment (Next Generation AI for a carbon-free built environment), exchanges among operators, institutions, regulators, and concessionaires to assess the opportunities and challenges posed to creating an efficient and widespread charging network in Italy and Europe (Strengthening collaboration between Italy and Japan on hydrogen technology innovations), the technical and engineering challenges from a European perspective (Dual harvest, double trouble: Tackling EPC barriers in agrivoltaics), and Italy’s role in the European and international agrivoltaic landscape.
