Organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), this leading event on energy transition in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean region this year prominently features sustainable innovation, technology, and research, ranging from colored solar panels (sodium-ion batteries) to innovative thermal energy storage systems using fluidized sand, residential solutions, agrivoltaics, and high-power electric vehicle charging stations.

The opening day of this fair, spread over more than 125,000 square meters across 24 halls, provided an opportunity to present to the international energy community IEG’s new B2B event, fully dedicated to solar energy and energy storage systems.

Called the “Storage & Solar Expo Conference” (SSEC), this new gathering is scheduled for September 22 and 23 at the Vicenza Exhibition Centre in northern Italy.

Complementary to the “KEY – The Energy Transition Expo,” SSEC specializes in photovoltaics, storage, and integrated energy management solutions. It aims to become the new nerve center of the supply chain, thereby strengthening IEG’s position in the market for energy transition fairs and ensuring the continuity of its relationships with this sector throughout the year.

Its goal is to provide the market with a compact format focused on direct business exchanges and connecting qualified professionals among manufacturers, distributors, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) companies, designers, investors, and major energy consumers.

The 2026 edition of the KEY fair, which will continue until Friday, will notably feature the presentation of the report on the state of energy sustainability in the supply chain of the construction sector, organized by the technical-scientific committee of KEY and Federconstruzioni.

Also on the agenda are conferences addressing themes related to the new phase of renewable energies, energy security and efficiency, decarbonization, women in the energy sector, the charging network for electric vehicles, as well as photovoltaic and wind solar systems, and energy self-sufficiency.

Notable attendees at the opening ceremony included the Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the president of IEG, Maurizio Renzo Ermeti, the councilor for ecological transition in Rimini, Anna Montini, and the head of the export sectors at the Italian Trade Agency, Maurizio Forte.
