Huawei, a global leader in digital energy solutions, was one of the main sponsors of the fourth edition of the World Power-to-X Summit held in Marrakech on October 8 and 9, 2024. Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this large-scale summit took place under the theme “Expanding the Horizon of Power-to-X with the Morocco Offer: Together for a Clean and Sustainable Future.” This year, the summit particularly highlighted “The Morocco Offer,” positioning the Kingdom as a key player in the transition to a sustainable economy, with green hydrogen at its core.

Organized by the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), in collaboration with the Green H2 Cluster, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), and the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco, this prestigious event brought together experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss technological innovations and development opportunities in the field of Power-to-X (PtX).

Building on the success of the previous edition, the World Power-to-X Summit 2024 gathered over 1,150 participants from more than 35 countries, representing various sectors, with renowned speakers, high-level discussion sessions, and fruitful bilateral meetings.

For Huawei, this participation highlighted the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of energy innovation, serving the population and the economic development of Morocco. At its booth, the company showcased its latest advancements in intelligent energy solutions, placing particular emphasis on digital technologies and their role in decarbonization.

Mr. Ahmed Rouizem, Technical Director of Huawei Northern Africa’s Smart PV division, praised the success of this large-scale initiative and stated: “Our participation in the World Power-to-X Summit reflects our commitment to supporting the transition to clean and sustainable energy. We leverage our technological expertise to serve this ambition, integrating digital and electronic solutions that meet the growing needs for green energy, particularly hydrogen, which is of increasing strategic importance for the Kingdom of Morocco.”

For his part, Mr. Jad Zhao, General Director of the Digital Power Department at Huawei Morocco, announced: “In line with Morocco’s ambitious energy transition policy and the massive investments made in the renewable energy sector, this large-scale summit, born from the convergence of the vision of all partners, is an ideal opportunity for collaboration to build a better future, focusing on innovation and reducing carbon emissions. With its expertise and know-how, Huawei is proud to present its latest technologies and green digital solutions to actively support its partners, working together for the sustainable development of the hydrogen energy industry in Morocco and Africa.”

Green hydrogen and decarbonization: Huawei at the heart of tomorrow’s challenges

In a context of striving for carbon neutrality, Huawei intends to play a central role by developing technologies that combine efficiency and sustainability. The summit provided the company with an ideal platform to showcase its innovative solutions in the field of digital power, particularly in smart energy management and optimization of industrial processes.

Among the key themes addressed during the two days of conferences were the technological challenges related to the large-scale production of green hydrogen, new models of public-private partnerships, and funding opportunities to accelerate the development of PtX projects.

The rich and varied program of this edition included plenary sessions, thematic panels, masterclasses, networking spaces, and a rich exhibition area, reflecting the importance of this meeting.

A summit focused on partnerships and breakthrough technologies

Huawei, which makes technological innovation its main growth lever, took advantage of this major industry event to strengthen its collaborations with energy ecosystem players. By relying on its cutting-edge solutions, the company aims to contribute to the transformation of the sector and the deployment of sustainable energy projects.

The World Power-to-X Summit thus fits into Huawei’s overall strategy to promote an inclusive energy transition and accelerate the development of low-carbon solutions at the national and continental levels. Through its participation, Huawei reiterates its commitment to creating a solid and lasting impact by leveraging innovation and collaboration.
