The Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health (FM6SS) is strengthening its partnership with Nareva Services, a subsidiary of the Nareva Group, as part of its environmental and social strategy focused on reducing carbon footprints and promoting sustainable development.
This partnership involves the establishment of a photovoltaic solar power plant with an installed capacity of 1.2 MW at the Mohammed VI International Hospital-University Complex in Dakhla. According to the provided data, this infrastructure will allow the Foundation to reduce its energy consumption by 31% and avoid the emission of approximately 1,356 tons of CO₂ each year, contributing to its decarbonization goal for 2030.
Covering an area of 1.2 hectares, the installation will consist of 1,892 photovoltaic solar panels, deployed in accordance with technical and environmental standards. The project also aims to lower the site’s energy bill while strengthening FM6SS’s environmental commitments.
On this occasion, Professor Youns Bjijou, Deputy Director of FM6SS, stated: “This partnership with Nareva Services fully aligns with the implementation of our environmental and social strategy. The installation of a solar power plant at the future Mohammed VI International Hospital-University Complex in Dakhla marks a significant step in our commitment to reducing ecological impact and sustainably modernizing our infrastructure, in accordance with national guidelines on sustainable development.”
For his part, Norddine MoukhliSse, Deputy General Director of Nareva Services, affirmed: “We are proud to conclude this partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health for the establishment and operation of a cutting-edge photovoltaic solar power plant. This project embodies our shared commitment to innovative, efficient, and environmentally-friendly energy solutions, contributing to a greener and more responsible economy.”
This project is part of the development of the Dakhla Health City, designed as a new-generation hospital-university complex that integrates a comprehensive environmental approach from the outset. The Foundation indicates that the project aims for an HQE – High Environmental Quality certification, according to standards covering all components. The hospital sector targets the “Excellent” level of the environmental performance framework for health buildings, while the education and residential sectors aim for the “Exceptional” level according to their respective standards.
Beyond certification, FM6SS emphasizes an integrated approach aimed at designing energy-efficient buildings with low carbon emissions, durable and exemplary in terms of environmental and health quality.
Through the Dakhla Health City, the Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health asserts its ambition to make this project a reference model in Africa for sustainable hospital-university construction, leveraging the region’s natural advantages and massively integrating green energies into its infrastructures.
