Damane Cash, GIZ WoMENA, the Zakoura Foundation, and the Moroccan Foundation for Financial Education (FMEF) have announced the launch of the Nouara program, following the signing of a partnership dedicated to financial inclusion and economic empowerment of women in rural areas.
Deployed in the Marrakech-Safi region, the program aims to support 1,500 rural women through a structured pathway that combines financial awareness, training, and entrepreneurial support. The goal is to enhance their economic autonomy and strengthen their contribution to local development.
A Dual Complementary Pathway
The Nouara program revolves around two main components. The first is a personal finance awareness phase, focused on budgeting, savings, insurance, and the use of financial services. This step aims to improve mastery of basic financial tools and encourage responsible resource management within households.
The second component involves entrepreneurial support for 200 participants. It includes training in management, cash flow, financing, and digital payments to assist in the creation or development of income-generating activities tailored to local realities.
Addressing Specific Challenges of the Rural World
Through this partnership, the involved parties aim to tackle a key development challenge. In rural areas, women play a central role in the family economy but face limited access to financial services and a lack of management tool proficiency. These constraints hinder their ability to save, plan, and engage in sustainable enterprises.
Thus, the Nouara program aims to provide concrete and appropriate solutions, fostering the economic resilience of households and the financial inclusion of rural women.
Mobilizing Complementary Expertise
In this context, Damane Cash will leverage its expertise in financial inclusion and payment services by facilitating access to local financial solutions. GIZ WoMENA will support the initiative through technical assistance and its commitment to the economic empowerment of women.
The Zakoura Foundation, as the project leader, will ensure the operational rollout and local integration of the program within rural communities, while the FMEF will contribute by establishing financial education kits developed according to OECD principles and adapted to the Moroccan context.
Through the Nouara program, the partners reaffirm their joint commitment to promoting inclusive and sustainable development by placing financial education and the empowerment of rural women at the heart of the social and economic transformation levers of the Kingdom.
