The project for a high-voltage power line connecting Dakhla to Casablanca is progressing with the selection of five pre-qualified developers for its implementation. The National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) has chosen **Grid Solutions SAS, Larsen & Toubro Limited, PowerChina Sepco 1 Electric Power Construction, Siemens Energy, and Tbea Co.**, allowing them time to form potential consortiums under the BOOT (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer) scheme.
In this dynamic, topographic studies have begun to define the route of this strategic electrical connection, which will strengthen the energy integration of the Southern provinces. ONEE has entrusted this work to the engineering and topography company **Géo-Amane**, based in Casablanca, with a budget of **5.3 million dirhams**. This company won the tender against several competitors with a proposal deemed more competitive.
The project will take place in two phases:
– **First phase (2026)**: commissioning of 1.5 GW of capacity.
– **Second phase (2028)**: addition of an additional 1.5 GW, bringing the total capacity to **3 GW**.
The topographic study will cover **1,100 kilometers**, with a first section **Oued Lakraâ – Tan-Tan** (600 km) and a second **Tan-Tan – Marrakech** (500 km). The goal is to optimize the route in collaboration with ONEE to ensure the viability and profitability of the project.
With this infrastructure, Morocco is strengthening its electrical network and accelerating the energy integration of its regions while consolidating its position as an energy hub in North Africa.
