The eco-friendly container ship Eco Mistral made its first commercial call at the Tangier Med port, marking its entry into operation on the Moroccan platform. This operation, carried out by the shipping company X-Press Feeders, was accompanied by the logistics group Africa Global Logistics (AGL).
According to AGL, this arrival corresponds to the inaugural voyage of the ship as an eco-friendly feeder and its very first stop at this strategic port hub. The call is presented as a significant step toward more sustainable maritime transport while enhancing regional connectivity and logistics chain performance.
The Eco Mistral belongs to a new generation of vessels designed to reduce the environmental impact of container transport, a rapidly growing segment in intra-regional trade. For shipping companies, port stops are now laboratories for experimenting with energy-efficient and environmentally friendly operating practices.
AGL emphasizes that this first call illustrates the commitment of logistics operators and their partners to innovative solutions that contribute to the sustainable transformation of the maritime and port sector. The integration of such vessels into the regular rotations of the port aligns with a gradual adaptation of infrastructure to technological developments in maritime transport.
Positioned at the crossroads of Atlantic and Mediterranean routes, Tangier Med plays a central role in the flows connecting Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean basin. The welcoming of the Eco Mistral confirms the port’s mission to support the energy transition in the sector and to consolidate its status as a strategic platform for regional trade.
