Morocco has contracted a loan of 100 million euros from the German bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KFW) to finance its national climate change adaptation program. This funding, validated by decree no. 2.24.1141, is part of the country’s ongoing commitments to energy transition and natural resource preservation.

Support for hydraulic infrastructure and renewable energies

Concluded on December 19, 2024, this loan aims to support public policies focused on environmental resilience and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Its management will be ensured by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, with a priority given to hydraulic infrastructure and renewable energy projects.

    A step towards a low-carbon economy

Signed by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch and countersigned by Delegated Minister in charge of the budget Fouzi Lekjaa, this decree marks a step forward in the national strategy for combating climate disruptions. Rabat thus aims to reduce its dependence on fossil fuels and accelerate the transition to a more carbon-efficient economy.
