The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) launched the ThermoPro label on Tuesday in Casablanca, a system aimed at certifying the technical skills of professionals in the thermal solar sector in Morocco, as part of the implementation of the national energy transition policy.
Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, in partnership with the Moroccan Association of Solar and Wind Industry (AMISOLE), the Renewable Energy Cluster, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), a launch workshop brought together sector stakeholders to discuss issues related to the structuring, quality, and competitiveness of the thermal solar sector.
Speaking at the event, Radouan Yessouf, director of the AMEE Strategy and Development Pole, indicated that the ThermoPro label is designed as a structuring tool for the thermal solar sector, aiming to improve the quality of installations and ensure that users receive reliable, high-performance, and sustainable systems.
According to him, this system also allows for the enhancement of the technical skills and professionalism of installers, providing them with recognition that strengthens their credibility and positioning in the market.
Furthermore, Mr. Yessouf emphasized that this initiative fully aligns with the national energy transition policy, where the building and industrial sectors play a strategic role, noting that these two sectors account for nearly 55% of national energy consumption and are among the main greenhouse gas emitters, while also presenting significant potential for energy savings and decarbonization.
In this context, he stated that the development of thermal solar systems represents a major lever, especially since Morocco has a significant solar yield, ranging from 1,700 to 2,200 kWh per square meter depending on the regions.
In addition to improving installation quality, this label, he said, is also a commercial asset for certified professionals and a guarantee of trust for clients, companies, and investors, while facilitating access to financing and insurance.
For his part, AMISOLE president Fouad El Kohen mentioned that this workshop serves multiple objectives, starting with informing professionals about the mechanisms related to the ThermoPro label, including its acquisition, goals, and benefits.
He also highlighted the importance of raising awareness among companies about the benefits of adhering to this label, particularly concerning skill enhancement, technical mastery, and market differentiation, noting that a labeling committee has been established, comprising AMEE, AMISOLE, and the Renewable Energy Cluster.
He added that this meeting aims to create a space for exchange and sharing around best practices, marked by strong interaction with participants, asserting that thermal solar energy holds substantial potential in terms of energy efficiency.
The ThermoPro label certifies compliance with technical standards and best practices in the design, installation, and maintenance of thermal solar systems. It provides certified professionals with recognition that enhances their credibility in the market, allowing them to stand out in a rapidly growing sector.
The workshop included presentations covering the current status and challenges of the thermal solar sector in Morocco, the strengthening of skills and industrial capacities to enhance sector competitiveness, the presentation of the ThermoPro label, as well as sharing international experiences, best practices, and technical innovations aimed at improving performance, durability, and safety of thermal solar installations.
This initiative is part of the national energy strategy, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 52% of installed electrical capacity and reduce energy consumption by 20% by 2030, focusing particularly on enhancing energy efficiency and developing renewable sectors.
