Today, Aswak Assalam, a subsidiary of Ynna Holding and a major player in large-scale distribution, is taking an important step in development towards energy transition by announcing its strong commitment to photovoltaic solar energy and renewable energies.
Indeed, Aswak Assalam has officially signed an agreement with Valoris Capital through its “Valoris Alternative Investments fund” to reduce its consumption of conventional energies and to source green energy, thus launching the solar pilot project at its shopping center in Témara. On this occasion, Mr. Hassan FRAINE, General Director of Aswak Assalam, emphasizes the importance of this initiative by stating: “We are proud that our brand is participating in the fight against climate change by developing renewable energies. Through this project, Aswak Assalam is concretely committed to a sustainable solution that meets its energy transition and the decarbonization of its activities.”
This pioneering project involves the installation of next-generation photovoltaic solar panels, the establishment of solar canopies in parking lots, as well as electric charging stations aimed at promoting green mobility. This infrastructure will cover more than 87% of the energy consumption during peak hours at the Témara site.
This initiative is part of the overall energy strategy of Ynna Holding, aimed at decarbonizing the activities of its subsidiaries and aligning with Morocco’s national energy strategy.
“We consider energy transition a priority, and this first step in Témara is the prelude to a series of similar initiatives in our other hypermarkets,” adds Hassan FRAINE.
Aswak Assalam plans to extend this transition to green energy to its 15 shopping centers in different cities by 2026. This ambitious expansion is expected to reduce Aswak Assalam’s carbon footprint by over 30%, thus contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 20,000 tons per year.
This commitment marks a significant contribution to the objectives of the National Energy Transition Strategy and sustainable development of Morocco focused on energy efficiency, renewable energies, and environmental preservation. Aswak Assalam thus reaffirms its alignment with the strategic orientations of the country.
Aswak Assalam is fully committed to playing an active role in promoting green energy and being a model in the market. This transition to renewable energy underscores its long-term commitment to environmental sustainability while contributing to the achievement of national goals regarding clean energy.
