The National Agency for Aquaculture Development (ANDA) held its 26th Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday in Rabat, presided over by the Secretary of State for Maritime Fisheries, Zakia Driouich. The agency announced the support for the establishment of 184 aquaculture projects authorized in 2025, with an investment of 1.76 billion dirhams.
Currently, 184 aquaculture projects are installed and operational, with a target production estimated at 75,507 tons, representing a total investment of 1.76 billion dirhams and the creation of 2,361 direct jobs, according to a statement from the Secretariat of State for Maritime Fisheries.
It was noted that 62 additional aquaculture projects are currently in development, emphasizing that their production will add an additional capacity of 14,590 tons, mobilizing an investment of 307 million dirhams and generating approximately 520 direct jobs.
These indicators confirm the gradual consolidation of the sector and the growing maturity of the national aquaculture ecosystem, the source added.
On this occasion, the 2026 action plan, structured around 35 projects, was presented, continuing the strategic roadmap for the fisheries sector from 2025 to 2027, ensuring the alignment between national orientations and the programs supported by the Agency.
The plan notably includes continued aquaculture planning actions through launching Calls for Expression of Interest for opening new investment areas, strengthening capacities and professionalization of stakeholders, modernizing breeding systems, improving technical and managerial skills, as well as enhancing the quality, traceability, and competitiveness of aquaculture products.
The Board also reviewed actions aimed at accelerating the structuring of aquaculture inter-professions and supporting their official recognition.
As part of the modernization of services for investors, ANDA will develop an integrated digital platform dedicated to the complete dematerialization of the aquaculture investment process, contributing to the simplification of procedures, reduction of processing times, and enhancement of transparency.
The orientations established for the year 2026 reflect the desire to strengthen aquaculture as a strategic lever for sustainable growth, in line with national ambitions for an inclusive and responsible blue economy.
At the end of the proceedings, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the action plan and the provisional budget for the year 2026, reaffirming the commitment of all its members to the sustainable and structured development of the national aquaculture sector.
