The city of Beni Mellal is preparing to establish a large ecological park. Supported by several local and regional institutions, this significant project aims to enhance urban green spaces and improve the quality of life for residents.

With a total area of over 27 hectares, the future park intends to be a multifunctional space, combining leisure, sports activities, and environmental awareness initiatives.

The project is based on a partnership agreement involving multiple public stakeholders. The total budget amounts to 36 million dirhams, distributed among the Beni Mellal-Khenifra Regional Council and the Regional Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services (12 million dirhams each), the Beni Mellal Provincial Council (7 million), and the local municipality (5 million).

The land, currently owned by the Rabiaa Association, is undergoing an acquisition process through expropriation for public utility to allow the project’s realization.

In this context, an area of 5 hectares will be allocated to the Regional Chamber of Commerce for the establishment of a welcome center to support park activities.

    ### Ongoing Works

Initial developments are already underway. A first agreement, funded with 25 million dirhams, has enabled the commencement of works under the supervision of the Regional Industrial Development Company.

Several infrastructures have been completed, including an exploitation well, a water reservoir, a boundary wall with gates, and the hydraulic equipment for the site.

A second contract, currently being executed with a progress rate of 65%, pertains to the development of outdoor spaces, including a walking path, a solar lighting system, urban furniture, and plantings.

    ### New Investments to Accelerate the Project

A new agreement, currently awaiting validation at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, anticipates additional funding of 28 million dirhams.

This budget will notably facilitate the development of a central platform of 5 hectares, new pathways, the creation of parking lots, the installation of a modern irrigation system, as well as landscaping work that includes planting trees and shrubs.

    ### Enhanced Sports and Leisure Offerings

The project also includes the development of infrastructure dedicated to leisure and sports. A third agreement, in preparation, plans to create padel, tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts, as well as a pétanque area.

Two swimming pools, a café-restaurant, children’s play areas, and dining spaces will complete the offering. The park will also feature exhibition spaces and green zones, reinforcing its ecological purpose.

    ### A Future Green Lung for the Region

In the long term, this ecological park is expected to become a true green lung for Beni Mellal. Beyond its recreational aspect, it is part of a sustainable development strategy aimed at preserving natural resources, enhancing the city’s attractiveness, and providing residents with a more pleasant living environment.

This project reflects the local authorities’ commitment to reconciling urbanization, environmental considerations, and quality of life.
