The Energy Transition Expo, KEY, is holding its fourth edition from March 4 to 6 at the Rimini Exhibition Centre in Italy, establishing itself as a hub of sustainable innovation while reinforcing its role as a growth accelerator and development platform for both Italian and international startups engaged in the energy sector.

With a new layout plan, this major event has confirmed the establishment of an entire pavilion dedicated to innovation, where the Green Jobs & Skills initiative will promote the connection between job demand and the supply of new sustainable skills, according to a statement from the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG).

“The Innovation District has emerged as a genuine open innovation pathway aimed at linking startups with established companies and potential investors, fostering innovation in products and services as well as the creation of new sustainable activities,” clarifies IEG, the organizer of the expo.

This space is designed to elevate companies that invest in research and development, providing visibility for their most advanced solutions and acting as a catalyst for the technological evolution of the sectors leading the energy transition. It was noted that the most innovative ideas and projects across the seven economic sectors of KEY (solar, wind, hydrogen, energy efficiency, energy storage, electric mobility, and sustainable cities) will be represented by 32 innovative Italian and international startups and SMEs.

These finalists were chosen from the 67 companies that responded to the Call for Startups organized by IEG, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the National Association of Young Innovators (ANGI), and Plug and Play Tech Center, the world’s largest open innovation and venture capital platform.

The seven most innovative young businesses will be awarded, each in a category, the Lorenzo Cagnoni Innovation Award.

The solutions presented range from energy efficiency to electric mobility, including the application of artificial intelligence in energy management to ensure real-time consumption monitoring, detect anomalies, and optimize resources, thereby reducing waste and maximizing savings for large facilities, businesses, citizens, and energy communities, IEG states.

Highly innovative projects will showcase heat pumps, gravitational storage systems that capture and store energy, advanced monitoring technologies that integrate satellite imagery, drone surveys, and ground sensors, as well as innovations that automate technical project management and enhance the performance of existing installations.

This also includes self-cleaning treatments for photovoltaic panels and integrated platforms that enable the installation and monetization of charging points for electric vehicles and bicycles.

Furthermore, KEY – The Energy Transition Expo, which will dedicate a day to training and career guidance, has renewed the Green Jobs & Skills initiative in collaboration with Green Factor. This initiative targets recent graduates and high school students from technical institutes, young professionals, and workers looking to transition towards sustainability, as well as companies in search of talent, concludes the statement.
