OCP Brasil and Cibra Integrate Phosgold Technology into the BaseFort Fertilizer Range

OCP Brasil, a subsidiary of the Moroccan group OCP, and Brazilian producer Cibra Fertilizantes have announced the conclusion of an industrial agreement for the integration of Phosgold technology within the BaseFort fertilizer range. This partnership combines the scientific expertise developed by OCP Nutricrops in the field of phosphate fertilizers with Cibra’s deep understanding of Brazilian agricultural systems, as the company operates throughout the entire national territory.

According to both groups, this cooperation aims to expand the fertilization offerings available to farmers, through formulations adapted to the specificities of local soils and crops, while promoting a more efficient use of inputs. OCP Brasil specifies that the Phosgold technology has been developed specifically to enhance fertilization efficiency under Brazil’s agronomic conditions.

    ### A Phosphate Formulation Tailored to Agronomic Requirements

Phosgold is a phosphate fertilizer made from rock sourced from OCP Nutricrops’ Moroccan reserves, then processed according to strict industrial standards. The product is presented as providing balanced nutrients in phosphorus and sulfur, particularly intended for soybean, corn, cotton, rice, and sugarcane crops, which play a central role in Brazilian agriculture.

OCP Brasil stresses that this formulation is based on the principles known as the “four rights” (source, rate, timing, and method of application), aiming for a more rational use of nutrients. The objective is to improve yields, control fertilization costs, and preserve soil quality in the long term.

The high concentration of nutrients and the high solubility of Phosgold are also highlighted. According to the group, these characteristics allow for a significant reduction in volumes applied per hectare, positively affecting logistics and environmental impact. The decrease in transported and applied volumes could reach up to 37% compared to less concentrated phosphate fertilizers, resulting in a corresponding reduction in mechanical operations, fuel consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions.

    ### Strengthening the BaseFort Range

Cibra’s BaseFort range is based on fertilizers that combine nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, and calcium in a single granule. The integration of Phosgold technology adds a highly concentrated and highly soluble phosphorus, readily assimilable sulfur, ammoniacal nitrogen, and a homogeneous physical quality of the granules, ensuring even distribution during application.

Cibra states that this configuration helps reduce the volumes required for transport and storage, with a direct impact on operational costs for farms. The aim is to offer simpler solutions to implement while improving agronomic performance per hectare.

Marcos Stelzer, general manager of OCP Brasil, believes that the integration of Phosgold into the BaseFort range represents “an important step in strengthening the supply of phosphate solutions suitable for Brazilian agriculture,” combining high concentration, solubility, and nutritional balance. Meanwhile, Pedro Mattos, head of agronomic products at Cibra, considers that this development “raises the technical level of the range and offers producers a complete, competitive, and sustainable solution.”

Through this agreement, OCP Brasil and Cibra affirm their commitment to contributing to the development of a more sustainable Brazilian agriculture, seen as a pillar of global food security, by relying on soil and plant nutrition solutions based on consolidated scientific and industrial expertise.
