The Green Forward program has reached a new milestone in Morocco with the launch of a call for expressions of interest aimed at creating a national pool of experts specialized in the green economy, circular economy, and sustainable transition. The initiative is driven by Enactus Morocco, in partnership with SPARK and with financial support from the European Union.
Through this initiative, the program’s leaders seek to enhance their operational intervention capacity by relying on Moroccan expertise capable of concretely supporting economic transformation projects related to ecological transition.
A framework to support sustainable transition
The pool of experts currently being structured will include consultants, trainers, and specialists who can be mobilized according to the program’s needs. The anticipated missions cover a wide range of actions: organizational diagnostics, development of practical tools and methodologies, facilitation of training sessions and workshops, support for Business Support Organizations (BSOs), facilitation of multi-stakeholder working groups, and contributions to advocacy efforts and the formulation of public policy recommendations.
The goal is clear: to equip Green Forward with field expertise capable of translating strategic orientations of green transition into concrete solutions, tailored to the economic and institutional realities of Morocco.
Aligning ecological transition with competitiveness
This initiative comes at a time when Morocco is gradually reconfiguring its climate approach. Structural water stress, significant temperature increases over recent decades, and high energy dependency necessitate a profound transformation of production and consumption models.
In this context, the green transition is no longer viewed as a constraint but as a lever for competitiveness. Public authorities are focusing more on incentives, support, and skills development rather than solely on a fiscal approach, particularly to prepare Moroccan companies for new international requirements, such as the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Green Forward fully aligns with this logic by seeking to strengthen the support ecosystem for SMEs, considered a key link between public policies and the productive fabric.
A regional program with local roots
Funded by the European Union, Green Forward aims to promote a green and circular economy in the Southern Neighbourhood countries, covering several states in the Middle East and North Africa. In Morocco, the program relies on a collaborative approach involving institutional actors, civil society organizations, business support structures, and private sector partners.
The establishment of a pool of national experts addresses a dual objective: to ensure the local relevance of interventions and to facilitate scaling up sustainable solutions developed from the country’s economic, social, and environmental realities.
By leveraging Moroccan expertise, Green Forward aims to accelerate the grounding of the green economy in Morocco, not as an abstract concept, but as a concrete driver of transformation, innovation, and sustainable value creation.
