A strategic partnership was established this Monday, June 16, in Salé, between the National Professional Football League (LNFP) and LaLiga Spain, with the aim of promoting sustainable development of Moroccan football. The signing of the agreement took place at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, in the presence of the president of the FRMF, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the Spanish ambassador, Enrique Ojeda Vila.
A rapprochement in the wake of the 2030 World Cup
This partnership is part of a dynamics of strengthened cooperation between Morocco and Spain, particularly due to their co-organization of the 2030 World Cup with Portugal. For Abdeslam Belkchour, president of the LNFP, this agreement represents a decisive milestone for strengthening bilateral ties in the field of football, offering Moroccan clubs the opportunity to draw inspiration from the Spanish model, recognized for its high level of organization and professionalism.
A convention with multiple dimensions
According to both parties, this partnership is not limited to symbolic exchanges. It includes several areas of cooperation, addressing club governance, training, management of audiovisual rights, sports marketing, and technological innovation. The objective is clear: to strengthen the national football ecosystem by relying on Spanish expertise.
An approach based on analysis and sharing
On the Spanish side, Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, emphasized the spirit in which this collaboration is undertaken: a spirit of openness and knowledge transfer. A preliminary study has also identified the strengths and weaknesses of Moroccan football, in order to build a targeted roadmap.
“We are not here to impose a model, but to share an experience built on decades of professionalism,” said Tebas, highlighting that this is just the beginning of a great collaboration.
A South-North dynamic in service of development
This partnership embodies a new form of South-North cooperation, where the ambition is no longer just to close a gap, but to co-construct a common future for football, in a logic of co-development and regional integration. For Morocco, it is also an acknowledgment of its central role in the geopolitical landscape of global sport.
With this agreement, the LNFP takes a new step towards the complete professionalization of Moroccan football, in line with the ambitions promoted by the FRMF and the dynamics of the 2030 World Cup.
