Thus, AMEE highlights its various service offerings for agricultural professionals, while contributing to the scientific program of the show, notably through a presentation on energy efficiency in agriculture.
The goal is to remind the strategic role that energy efficiency plays in the sustainable management of energy and water, the competitiveness of the sector, and the transition to low-carbon agriculture.
Facing an agricultural sector that represents nearly 8% of national final energy consumption, the stakes are high. Moroccan agriculture is currently confronted with a dual challenge: to increase its productivity while controlling its water and energy consumption.
In this context, energy efficiency emerges as an important lever, at the intersection of the economic and environmental priorities of the sector.
Among the most effective measures are the adoption of water-saving irrigation systems, the use of high-efficiency pumps, the use of renewable energy sources – particularly solar – for powering agricultural equipment, and the gradual replacement of equipment and machines with others that are more energy-efficient.
By opting for energy-efficient and high-performing techniques, farmers can significantly reduce their operating costs, strengthen the resilience of their activities, and improve their competitiveness.
It is in this perspective that AMEE’s action is framed, through an integrated offer of energy diagnostics, technical assistance, and support for the implementation of tailored solutions.
Solar pumping perfectly illustrates this dynamic. With more than 60,000 farms already equipped, this technique allows for a halving of the cost of irrigation water pumping, while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the sector.
Finally, AMEE also places training at the heart of its strategy. It offers specialized modules in agricultural energy efficiency, delivered in its training center equipped with practical workstations.
These sessions allow operators, technicians, and field workers to acquire the necessary skills to design, operate, and optimize integrated energy systems: agricultural equipment, solar pumping, precision irrigation, cold room management, etc.
In a context of resource scarcity and volatile energy costs, AMEE continues its mission as a public actor committed to an energy and environmental transition in the agricultural sector.
