Faced with the growing challenges of sustainability, very small, small, and medium-sized enterprises (TPMEs) in Morocco are still struggling to integrate environmentally friendly practices. To overcome these obstacles, Enactus, in partnership with the international organization Spark and with the support of the European Union, is launching a study as part of the Green Forward program.
The objective? To identify the barriers hindering the ecological transition of TPMEs and propose tailored solutions to accelerate their integration into a green and circular economy. A source close to the matter emphasizes that this initiative aims to provide strategic recommendations to structure effective support and energize the green entrepreneurial ecosystem in Morocco.
A program structured around four pillars
Despite favorable public policies, many TPMEs are struggling to initiate their sustainable transition, particularly due to the lack of support outside major urban areas. To address this, Green Forward is based on four major pillars:
1. Strengthening the skills of business support structures (SAE), essential for guiding TPMEs towards sustainable practices.
2. Developing tailored support tools that take into account ecological and economic imperatives.
3. Promoting collaboration among key stakeholders, encouraging exchanges between businesses, support structures, and institutions.
4. Developing policy recommendations to better integrate SMEs into the green economy and structure an effective incentive framework.
A grassroots approach for concrete solutions
The first phase of the program will involve recruiting an expert tasked with analyzing the specific needs of TPMEs and SAEs. This specialist will facilitate discussion groups involving entrepreneurs, support structures, and green economy stakeholders. The goal is to identify the main financial, technical, and organizational barriers in order to establish a realistic and targeted roadmap to guide businesses towards a more sustainable economic model.
This initiative represents a major advance for the promotion of the green economy in Morocco. Enactus and Spark, respectively committed to the development of student entrepreneurship and the employability of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, aim through Green Forward to provide Moroccan TPMEs with the concrete means to succeed in their ecological transition.
