    The Swiss NGO **Label STEP** continues its commitment to **fair trade** and **craftsmanship** in Morocco by integrating **nine new certified partners**. In collaboration with **La Maison de l’Artisan**, this initiative aims to improve **the working conditions of weavers**, promote **their access to international markets**, and encourage environmentally friendly practices.

    ### **Increased support for carpet artisans**

    This expansion is part of a program initiated in **2022**, combining **heritage preservation** and **ethical standards** in traditional weaving. **La Maison de l’Artisan**, a key player in promoting artisanal trades in Morocco, supports artisans to **increase their visibility** internationally while ensuring **their social rights**.

    Applications for the **2025 labeling program** are open until **March 30**, and interested artisans can apply via the **La Maison de l’Artisan** website.

    ### **A label guaranteeing responsible craftsmanship**

    Since its founding in **1995 in Switzerland**, **Label STEP** has been the reference for **fair trade and decent working conditions** in the **handmade carpet** industry. With an approach covering **all major production regions**, STEP is the only NGO to guarantee a **global ethical framework**.

    Its **fair trade** standard is based on **ten fundamental commitments**, including:

    – **Workers’ rights**;
    – **Safety and hygiene in the workplace**;
    – **Social guarantees**;
    – **Environmental protection**.

    Beyond these criteria, Label STEP implements **concrete actions** to improve **workshop conditions** and provide artisans with essential knowledge in **health, safety, and financial management**. This approach aims to **preserve ancestral craftsmanship** while integrating it into a **global economy focused on ethics and sustainability**.
