According to a report by SolarPower Europe, Morocco could see its installed capacity in photovoltaic solar energy reach 2.97 GW by 2028 in a medium scenario, with a potential of 4.35 GW in a high growth perspective.

Sonia Dunlop, managing director of the Global Solar Council, emphasizes that Morocco, a pioneer in solar energy in Africa, plans to add 2.2 GW of solar capacity in the coming years. She highlights the key role of Morocco’s strategy on green hydrogen, a strong regulatory framework, and a growing demand for electricity, which will contribute to the ongoing reduction of solar costs and the emergence of new investment opportunities.

These forecasts confirm the country’s potential in the renewable energy sector and its commitment to diversifying its energy sources to meet demand while reducing its carbon footprint.
