The LafargeHolcim Morocco plant in Tétouan represents an exemplary advancement in sustainable industry. On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the establishment hosted a visit dedicated to its initiatives in technological innovation and environmental commitment, highlighting a unique model in the sector.

A pioneering cement plant in renewable energy

The world’s first cement plant to have its own operational wind farm since 2005, the Tétouan site stands out for its massive use of renewable energy. According to El Mostafa Zaimi, Plant Director, 96% of the facility’s energy needs are covered by green sources, thanks to partnerships with Moroccan renewable energy suppliers.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and accelerating the energy transition,” said the official, thus emphasizing the central role of climate issues in LafargeHolcim Morocco’s strategy.

A strong commitment to education and digital inclusion

The company’s commitment goes beyond its industrial performance. During this visit, LafargeHolcim Morocco inaugurated a connected classroom in a nearby school, as part of a project launched in 2023. This program aims to reduce the digital divide in rural areas by equipping schools with modern computer equipment.

Zineb Bennouna, Director of Communication and CSR, explained the impact of this project: “Connected Classes strengthen equal opportunities and allow students from remote areas to benefit from the opportunities offered by digital technology.”

Support for entrepreneurship and local development

Alongside its educational efforts, LafargeHolcim Morocco actively supports young entrepreneurs and local cooperatives. Through its CSR program, the company assists these actors in structuring their projects, thus contributing to the economic and social development of the region.

    A model of responsible industry

LafargeHolcim Morocco embodies a new vision of industry, integrating innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility. By combining energy transition, support for education, and local economic assistance, the company redefines industrial standards, proving that growth and positive impact can go hand in hand.

With its initiatives, the Tétouan plant asserts itself as a key player in sustainable development in Morocco and an inspiring model for the industrial sector.
