Mbarka Bouaida, president of the Guelmim-Oued Noun regional council, announced her project to create “Tantan Atlantic,” a port dedicated to renewable energies. This initiative aims to transform the region into an international hub for green energies and to strengthen its position on the international stage.

    ### An ambitious project for the region

Drawing inspiration from the successes of Tanger Med, Nador West Med, and Dakhla Atlantic, Bouaida proposes a public-private partnership to develop this new port. “Why not imagine Tantan Atlantic, a port dedicated to renewable energies? This project, based on a public-private partnership, could further propel the region onto the international stage,” she stated to the Observer of Morocco and Africa.

    ### Focus on green hydrogen

In parallel with the Tantan Atlantic project, Bouaida emphasized the region’s ambitions regarding green hydrogen. Guelmim-Oued Noun, thanks to its strategic positioning and considerable potential, is well-placed to become a major player in this sector. “We aim to make the Guelmim-Oued Noun region a true international capital of green hydrogen,” she asserted.

    ### Strengthening the regional economy

For Bouaida, these initiatives aim not only to stimulate the regional economy but also to position Morocco as a global leader in renewable energies. The creation of the Tantan Atlantic port and the development of green hydrogen reflect an ambitious vision for the region’s future. These projects promise to strengthen Guelmim-Oued Noun’s position on the international stage and promote sustainable development in the region.

    ### Conclusion

With initiatives such as Tantan Atlantic and the development of green hydrogen, Mbarka Bouaida and the Guelmim-Oued Noun region demonstrate a clear ambition to become leaders in the renewable energy sector, offering new economic and ecological opportunities for Morocco.
